		<description>I think reading can also be a form of escapism... like soap operas. What kind of person, I often wondered, sits there and and watches episode 1 of &lt;insert name here&gt;, knowing there are 5000 more to come? But it's hard to draw the line. 

Most of the time we enjoy a book not for what we learn from it, but for what it makes us feel. And different people need to feel different things. I think it's safe to say that learning from books is just collateral damage.</description>

I could not agree more. I do start wondering almost immediately about people who read trashy fiction though... Do they want to live fictional lives?
